Exclusive Physical Release for Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition in Europe

Capcom Opts for Digital-Only in the US, Physical Copy Delayed to March for European Fans

Capcom has officially confirmed that the Gold Edition of Resident Evil 4 Remake will receive a physical release exclusively in Europe. However, fans in the US will only have the option of a digital release when the game launches on February 9. This decision aligns with the ongoing digital-only trend embraced by several publishers in the gaming industry.

In a statement to IGN, a Capcom spokesperson clarified that while the US release remains digital-only, Capcom Europe will be offering a physical copy of the game for European enthusiasts. The downside is that those eager for a tangible edition will need to exercise patience, as the physical release in Europe is slated for March.

This move by Capcom aligns with the current industry shift towards digital-only releases. Notably, both Ninja Theory and Microsoft recently announced that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 would be exclusively digital. Remedy Entertainment also made a similar decision last May, revealing that Alan Wake 2 would not see a physical release to keep the game’s cost below $70.

What to Expect in Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition

Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition includes the base game and the DLC expansion Separate Ways. In addition to this, players can anticipate a bundle of digital content from the Deluxe Edition. This content encompasses extra costumes for Leon and Ashley, exclusive weapons such as Sentinel Nine and Skull Shaker, a soundtrack, exclusive charms, and more.

Critical Acclaim for Resident Evil 4 Remake

In a review by Tristan Ogilvie, the Resident Evil 4 remake is hailed as the series’ “most relentlessly exciting adventure.” The game has been meticulously rebuilt, refined, and fully realized, showcasing its immense potential. With the Gold Edition promising an even more enriched experience, it serves as a testament to Capcom’s commitment to delivering a captivating survival horror adventure.

As the gaming landscape continues to evolve towards digital distribution, Capcom’s decision to provide an exclusive physical release for Europe adds an intriguing layer to the ongoing changes in game distribution dynamics. Fans on both sides of the Atlantic can look forward to experiencing Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition, whether in digital or physical form, in February and March respectively.
