A new trailer for the highly anticipated “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” has been released, offering fans a glimpse into the upcoming underwater adventure. The movie is set to premiere on December 22, 2023.

The trailer begins with a heartwarming scene featuring Jason Momoa’s character, Arthur Curry (Aquaman), talking to his infant son. The baby, displaying inherited aquatic abilities, communicates with sea creatures in a tank using aquatic telepathy.

Momoa’s character expresses the unique connection they share with both the land and the sea, anticipating the wonders the world holds for his son. However, the tranquility is disrupted by the return of Black Manta, portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, seeking revenge from the first film.

“I’m gonna kill Aquaman, even if I have to make a deal with the devil to do it,” declares Black Manta, setting the stage for a dangerous alliance involving the mythic Black Trident and a vow to end Aquaman’s bloodline, putting his entire family, including the infant, at risk.

To counter this threat, Aquaman must form an unlikely alliance with his brother, the former king of Atlantis, Orm. The trailer showcases underwater battles, returning characters like Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, and Temuera Morrison as Tom, Arthur’s human father.

Director James Wan, known for breaking new ground in underwater cinematography in the original film, seems to continue this trend with over-the-top underwater battles. The movie’s synopsis reveals that Black Manta, armed with the power of the Black Trident, unleashes an ancient and malevolent force after failing to defeat Aquaman previously. Now, Aquaman and Orm must unite to protect their kingdom and prevent irreversible destruction.
